    C-3 Battery holddown pieces

Does anyone know what the battery holddown pieces in the battery box for an early C-3 are plated/coated with ?
    Thanks -- Rey

Rey, I believe that hold down is natural, and the bolt is blk. phospahte, this is what my 72 is.

The removable bracket that is held by the black phosphate bolt is definitely dip-painted semi gloss black in the 3 cars I have here.

          My 1970 also.

I remember Rolf Krueger was doing some work on these details, but his research passed with him. There is a message there.

No idea if his family still has his papers?
Or was it all in his head?

Patrick and Ken, you have confirmed what is in the JG. If that is incorrect, we need to get it into the next update. I believe that is what I have seen in unrestored cars.

On his computer I expect, but another NCRS member who attended high school with Rolf tried unsuccessfully to get it from Rolf's son. If John Woods had survived Rolf the outcome might have been different, but ......

I believe that dip painted, semi-gloss black is correct for the removable bracket, at least for 1968-72. Although the bracket did not change throughout the C3 years, it's possible that the finish changed at some point. I doubt it, but it's possible.
