    Re: Is there no anwer?

This will work out well for those int he future (sarcasm).

Those searching on 1989 valve covers will get Doug's original thread with no answer -- while the answer (such as it is) lurks here under the inocious title "Is there no answer?" I am reminded of Pogo's infamious comment: "We have meet the enemy ...."

Does anyone have the part number(s) for the 1988 (yes I mean 1988) rocker arm covers?

      RH 10055782

Looks like there are no LH's in GM stock but a few rights remain. ( Less than 50 )

Thanks Tom. I am not chasing the part(s). I have other motives.

          Re: Is there no anwer?

The original cast magnesium valve covers were coated with a very hard epoxy resin paint. This was needed to cover up the very rough imperfections in the original porus magnesium castings.

The attached write-up show how to refurbish the OEM valve covers to look as close as possible to the original factory epoxy finish. While this approach will give you a near perfect result, it is by no means as hard as the original finish. Soooooo, when you get finished be careful not to drop a wrench on them as they will easily chic - ask me how I know....

Buy one or two of the C4 coffee table books. I do not necessarily advocate taking the printed text as gospel, but all of them will have pictures of the underhood areas of your car.

Thats hard to believe no one knows the answer to my question. What is the correct color of my valve covers for my 89??? thanks anyone,, doug
              Doug:

The color of your 1989 (and my 1988) rocker arm covers is Argent. Don't you love that term? I do because I can't count the number of threads I have participated in about steel wheel color.

              It is a powder coat.

I will not post the exact material or process because the last time I did that (for 1970-1972 front grilles) someone was nice enough to copy and past without attribution the exact information (mistakes and all) to that other Corvette site that loves to bash NCRS. I will not have that happen again. Y'all lose because of some unethical people.
