    69 Seat Back Frames Interchangable

Can anyone tell me if the 69 seat back frames are interchangable between the passenger and driver side?

Specifically, are the brackets the shoulder belt guides screws on top of the seats located on BOTH the left AND the right on each seat, or are they "handed"?

I searched the Archive and could not find an answer, so appreciate any guidance on this.

The seat backs are interchangeable from side-to-side. In fact, the entire seat assemblies are interchangeable from side-to-side. However, the shoulder belt GUIDES are side-specific. If the seat backs (or complete seat assemblies) were switched from one side to the other, the shoulder belt guides would have to be also switched on the seat backs. That would, of course, leave holes and marks on each seat back.

The 1969 guides were unique to that year.

      Joe,

Thanks very much for your quick info! The reason I asked is I just finished reupholstering my seats, but neglected to ID the backs. And while it seems I can feel brackets for the shoulder guides on both sides of the each seat, I wanted to confirm the brackets are there before I pierce holes probing for the screw holes.

So while I understand the guides are side-specific, are there brackets on both sides of the seat top to mount the guides?

      Thanks again,

      Chris

I believe there are but I'm not 100% positive. The seat back frames had the same part number regardless of which side they were used on so that strongly implies that the mounts are present on each side of the backs.

          Joe,

That seems logical to me...I can only blame myself for not keeping track of the backs.

          Really appreciate the help.

          Chris

As follow-up, I sucessfully installed the shoulder belt guides last night. The brackets (tabs) DO exist on BOTH sides of the seat tops. I can feel the tab and raised bump where the screws go, I just needed some confirmation it was not my imagination.
