    62 Hardtop restoration-Advice-Remove the frame?

    Hello,

I am doing a complete restoration of my 62 hardtop- Repaint the skin, new glass, headliner, etc.

Between looking at the ST-12, this board, as well as the GlassWorks videos, I now have all glass, weatherstripping, outside trim and the header bar removed. It looks like the only thing now holding the metal frame to the roof skin now is the series of rivets along the back edge (where the rear upper glass edge is).

Should I also drill out these rivets so I am only sending the roof skin to the paint shop?

    Thanks,

    Tony

i left the fiberglass skin on the frame when i did my 61. no sense risking mis-alignment when you reattach the skin to the frame. mike

Thanks Mike.. That was sort of my thoughts.. I will just need to be sure that the painter handles it carefully.

Did you also leave the header bar in place to keep them from flexing the front of the skin?
