I had a motor built by Proformance Chevy Phoenix ,Az. 2years ago and was wondering if anyone on this blog had also use them recently. They advertized in the Driveline for years ,but I haven't seen their adds lately.

Yes, they still exist. What do you need?

Thank you for the reply. What I want is to worn any one considering this company to think twice before they contract them to build that numbers matching motor that makes your ride correct. The're product was misrepresented from start to finish, not to mention major dimensional mistakes that nessesitated total disassemblie .

Sounds like another "machine shop disaster story" to add to all the others.

This was not only a machine shop disaster but an exercise in pore business practice and ethical conduct.
I started to suspect trouble when I started getting put off on the delivery date, which ultimately was 4 months later.Vendor was instructed to ship engine with heads off, pan off,and no paint so I could inspect. You guessed it non of my requests were honored. First thing I did when I got engine home was pull pan and heads. The inside of pan had never been cleaned and was full of filth.Valve springs did not fit pockets, and were also shimmed improperly .
Fast forward 1 year.Engine was installed in rolling chassis and started prior to body installation.I spent a solid month trying to get engine to run properly, but thats impossible with only 105 to 110 pounds of compression. Engine ran as if it had a bad plug or crossed wires . I ran a leak down test and found valves to be OK, but found only 2 cylinders would hold 100 pounds of pressure. One cylinder would only hold 60 lbs.As I disassembled engine I checked every dimension.I found that several rings were rotated to line up with each other and the end gaps were open. I've now taken crank ,rods and pistons to a reputable local speed shop to check for balance.Oh by the way piston was .050 below deck @ top dead center. Stay tuned folks I'm sure there will be more to report later.
