    Blackout for exhaust

    Just finished my 59 using BBQ grill paint and it scratches real easy. What do others use for balckout paint? Thanks in advance

    Jerry, I did my72 exhaust sytem with dupli color engine paint low gloss black and was a nice touch when finished,

    Don't forget your just trying to copy about what the factory did and all cars were different.

      I can't tell you what was used on 1959s, but nothing that comes out of a spray bomb will duplicate the original muffler black-out on 1968 to 1972. The only good news is that most judges, to quote Loren Lundberg, "Are not old enough to have heard an original side exhaust." Although he was talking about C2s, I would take it it would also apply to the black out on C1s.
