Re: Bill Sheet Retrieval with removing the tank?
Ron,
Not sure how mechanical you are but if you can turn ANY wrench and know which end of the screwdriver to use take a day and enjoy your self!! Better yet: Pick a Saturday, invite a buddy or 2 over and as Jerry would say, Have Fun!!. Nothing to dropping the tank.
1. Disconnect positive battery cable.
2. First off drain as much gas out of the tank as possible.
3. Remove fuel door and chrome benzel around door opening and remove rubber gasket.
4. Check with mirror or camera if you can see the sticker.
5. Remove tire from carrier (if it's there)
7. Remove 2 long bolts carrier door hangs on. Holding onto door as you unhook from carrier lock.
8. Remove the 4 bolts on inside of carrier holding it to frame and set aside.
9. Disconnect wires from fuel pump at rear of tank.
10. Disconnect rubber fuel line at rear of tank.
11. The last item to remove is the 2 bolts holding the tank straps. If working by yourself you could use tiedowns or rope to hold in place while removing straps. If working off the ground you could hold in place with floor jack.
If anything was left out someone will chime in. After you check out your sticker don't forget to grab a light to check out the underside to see what you can find. Post some pictures of what you find. Good Stuff!!

Take care,
Shooter
