C2 windshield

Disappointment: Dug my windshield out, cleaned it up and found delamination around the edges. I have a slight hope that the gasket and trim will hide the delamination. How far does the windshield fit into the gasket?

Average about 1/4". Depends on the glass and the opening tolerances.

Delamination C2 windshield

Randy, if the delamination is along the edge, you can reseal the windshield by heating and squeezing the PVB, polyvinyl butyral interlayer. It tkaes the right amount of heat (280 F) and force (180 psi) for one hour......you can use binder clips all along the edge, the type that are black spring steel with chrome spread handles. The trick is finding an oven large enough to heat the windshield to 280 degrees F for an hour. Cool it slowly when it comes out, or you will crack it. The binder clips will allow the PVB to seal to the glass, then you should apply urtehane along the edge to seal it from happening again....the whole process is 50/50%. Depends on many things.

Any idea about where to find an oven that big? How accurate does the 280 deg have to be? I assume the clips have to be attached while the windshield is in the oven.
