The RC-26 radiator cap that came with my 1967 327/350HP factory air car is as you describe above. No idea if this cap is the original to the car, but the car has only 27,000 miles since new. The internals were corroded a bit, so I replaced it years ago with a reproduction.

A note of caution to those who are buying current reproduction radiator caps. I recently purchased one of the "correct fonts and stampings" RC-26 caps from a well known parts supplier. The cap looked very nice, but it felt like the spring tension was not correct. I tested the cap using a Stant tester and it opened at around 22-23 psig.......way to high for my old radiator and heater core. So the older and "less correct" reproduction cap is back on the expansion tank. It tested out just fine, and opened at the correct 16 psig.

Just a note of caution to folks who are buying a new cap. Try to find a place to test it out before installing it on your car, or make certain that the supplier has good quality control measures in place.
