    64 engine id help

I looked at where the in stampings should be, but it is smooth. No markings at all. I did find some other markings on the motor. Will they tell me anything about the block? Thanks - RB

Look on the opposite side of the numbers you pictured at the rear of the block, and there should be a number beginning with a 3------- What is that number? The seven in the casting date indicates 57 or 67, which pretty well rules it out for use in a '64 Corvette as an original installation

Ryan, I have a '64 and the number on the left side you should be able to see it just behind the shielding for the spark plug wires. This is the casting number. My car is 3782870 with a casting date of C124 (March 12, 1964). I would believe that the casting information should have been there when the casting was made. If the number is not there in front of the right head, then it may have been machined off or never stamped. I am not sure why it would have never been stamped, but likely not built into a car, like a short block or something like that. Good Luck on your research.

All blocks were stamped. Ryan's block is not original to the car.
