I checked the title for my 1966 roadster last night and one of the codes indicated the car was "imported". I seem to remember that the Canadian government maintained records on cars originally sold in Canada. Does anyone have information that my recollection is correct? If so, does anyone have contact information to make a request for records? Thanks for any help. Mike Marion

Re: Corvette Imported from Canada
I'm not sure that Vintage Vehicle Services ( GM Canada ) will be able to help you since the Corvette was only manufactured in St. Louis. I used them to get the documentation on my '70 Chevelle SS but it was built in Oshawa, Ontario Canada. George Zapora did my report. Here is his contact information from the report cover sheet. E-mail: George.zapora@cc.gm.ca . The phone numbers for further assistance are (905) 440-7636 or (905) 440-7618 or by fax at (905) 440-7644. The hours are M to F, 8 to 5 EST.
George is very knowledgeable and will help you if he can. Good luck in your search.

Mike -- for your '66 [if originally delivered to a Canadian dealer] you will NOT get the letter with the options detail that Don W. has shown; his format is only for 1967-up cars. Prior to '67, Zapora will supply only the shipping/arrival dates (from St. Louis ?), the trim code, paint code, and dealer name (and maybe dealer number).
Tell us what's on your trim tag; ie. 976 paint 414 Trim, and I will skim over the microfiches that I have of almost half of the 381 Corvettes shipped to Canada during the 1966 model year. Chances are I could identify the VINs of the (say) 20 or so cars that meet the body style/interior, exterior colors that match, if on my lists. Maybe one of them is yours.- Top

Re: Corvette Imported from Canada
Wayne,
Thanks for the offer. On the trim tag, "Style"=66 467; "Body"=A-0952; "Trim"=414; "Paint"=976. The full VIN is 194676S102882.
Again, thanks for any information you can supply.

Re: Corvette Imported from Canada
Mike -- I have a sheet showing 02257, 02711, 02931, 02941 ... leads me to believe your car # 02882 was not originally delivered to Canada. However, you can still give GM Vintage Canada a phone call. I believe they will tell you if your car started off at a northern neighbor dealership. That way you can save the $40 (?) for the additional info: dates, trim & paint codes [which you already know, and if the trim tag is original] and the dealer number and or name.- Top
