    Stamp pad

    Stamp pad on a 67 coupe has the following V0405HC with no other stamping on the pad - no vin derivative - car was built in april so that seems to match - any ideas.

      Does the casting number and date line up too? Got a pic?

        Agree with Mike........you need to check further. HC is not a Corvette engine suffix for 1967.

          The problem I bet is going to be the casting date. I bet you will find the date to be a 68 to 69 cast engine used in a 69 model car.

          Somebody may have intentionally installed the April date block or it was just a coincidence. Either way, I'd say it's been replaced.

            HC appears to be 65-67 327/250 full size Chevrolet w/ powerglide. That's from several different sources, but I can't vouch for these and you should still check it out.

              Hello Gene;

              Could it be "HO" ?

              How's that Montana winter? Almost over?

                Gene -

                As I recall, base engines in passenger cars didn't get VIN derivative stampings until 1968; what's the block casting number and casting date?

                  Thanks for the replies. It makes sense that it was a passenger car and thus no vin. I am sure it was replaced and whoever repaced it came as close as they could. Its still winter here and will be for a while - we will check it out further come spring - Thanks
