    Re: Relay Rod 1967

David -- since nobody's done so yet, here's a top and side view of a 3/4" 5-hole relay rod; was in a friend's '66 L72 that he converted to power steering. My summer project (one of them, if summer ever comes ) is to replace the 7/8" 3-hole that's now in my convertible.

I'm not saying that this one is not bent, but the friend was also owner of the local Corvette shop, and he or his mechanics would have certainly mentioned.

In the second thumbnail view, pic taken at the floor level, the 2 hole bores for the steering shock absorber bracket are vertical to the floor; the inboard of the two eyelets slightly raised above the floor (you can see the air gap) due to the thickness of the tie-rod end eyelets [especially the driver side, that is touching the floor]. The tie-rod eyelets are designed with bores tilted down to the rear). Although the picture missed the idler arm eyelet at the passenger end, it is horizontal to the floor, and 90 degrees to the shock bracket bores, which are vertical to the floor.
