I grabbed a picture form Eaton's site of what I believe they call their 6/3 leaf spring which they say is a reproduction of the original 1970 9 leaf leaf spring. It's the one on the top. What do you think of their configuration?

It's very hard to tell from that photo, but my guess is the upturn is still too sharp right near the end, i.e., it's the same design as the one I looked at 6 or 7 years ago.

Yes, the original "upturned ends" actually had a RADIUS rather than a sharp, angular bend. I believe it was part of the original manufacturing process. The Eaton springs have a very sharp, angular bend. I believe this is just an attempt to create original configuration rather than a fundamental part of the manufacturing process used.

Thanks guys. I think I'll try to find an original. Do these springs wear out (I assume they do since replacements are made), what should I look for concerning a worn leaf spring, and can a worn out spring be restored to proper functionality?

I believe that many of the springs that have been replaced are not worn out. No doubt, some are worn out, but many are not.

The main thing that causes these leaf springs to "wear out" is corrosion damage. Pitting removes metal and with each bit of metal that's gone, the spring characteristics of the affected leaf changes.
