    67 Build Sheet Question

A friend (NCRS renewal after a long time lapse who can't log on yet) is trying to decipher a trim tag/build sheet. The trim tag, which as near as I can tell is NOT a repop shows 972 for paint. The build sheet in the paint box shows 02974AA Ermine White. The car is supposedly originally white with red stinger. Does the 974 ahead of the Ermine White describe the stinger color or is this a typo in the box and it should say 972..... OR..... is there something wrong here?

Saw this topic on the other forum. Here's the sheet in question.

      Re: 67 Build Sheet Question

      Norris:

I would question the build sheet (tank sticker). From what I can see, it does not appear to be the original.

The NCRS Document Validation Service may be the best way to authenicate or disprove the tank sticker.

I think I would believe the TRIM TAG that the car was born white. For a given exterior color, the interior color would/should determine the trim stripe color.

        Re: 67 Build Sheet Question

Thanks for the replies guys. Here's the dilema:

From the digital pictures I've seen of the pad and the date code cast on the block I'm strongly of the opinion that the engine is a restamp. My friend is willing to buy the car given that assumption IF we are relatively sure that the car was in fact a factory 435 car when new. If the tank sticker is authentic, then everything is good, but with no other documentation and an apparent booboo on the tank sticker, then other possibilities surface.

I'm still remembering a red SUPPOSED 67 L89 convertible that a dealer in Nebraska had a really legit looking build sheet copy attached to, and when we got home and researched it turned out to be a base engine small block. (I never did hear where that car went, but I hope wherever it was/is the owner didn't buy it as a legit L89)
