1968 proper dated coded jack

If I purchase a date coded jack for April, would that be correct for a car built in April 68, or should it be a month earlier? Jack is coded 8D
Don't have correct jack now, so want to do this right!

Hi John,

Normally, a 6 month date before the build date of your car is acceptable for most parts on your car. Glass has a one year date. I would not buy one dated for the same month, go a couple of months earlier than your build date.

My 68 was built on April 18 and the original jack is dated March. My 69 was built on Dec 12 of 68 and has a Nov. dated jack.

I would do as Terry said and get a jack dated a month or two before the car and there will be no questions.
