    Wiper door actuator nuts

I have a late 69 (Oct 69) car with the "pie plate" type wiper door actuator. Can anyone tell me what the correct nuts are to hold the actuator to the bracket?

    Type?
    Finish?
    Any Washer(s)?

Also the catalogs show shims between the bracket and the fiberglass. Do all cars use these or only if needed?

    Thanks

    Mike

The nuts for the actuator to bracket are zinc plated with an integral star washer. I believe the size is 7/16". You can find them in just about any hardware store. If you can't find them let me know I can send you a pair. I have not seen the spacers that you mentioned between the firewall and bracket.

Shims were used behind the three wiper door to firewall mounts as well as behind the wiper door actuator bracket on an 'as required' basis. I believe there's a note to this effect in the AIM.

The various mounting brackets for the wiper door to the firewall could be shimmed to move the final rest position in/out with respect to the windshield and rear hood lip.

Since the use of shims was 'as required' there's no right answer on how many, if any, were installed on a given car...
