C1 Window regulator removal

Is there an easy way to remove the window regulator? I have all the documents ST-12 etc show and telling the procedure, but cannot seem to get it in the correct position to get it out of the door.

Make sure the door post and lower channel are out. Them set the regulator for about 1/2 way. You should be able to look down where the glass goes and manuver it out. Good thing you don't have power windows.

I hate to sound stupid but does it come out the top, in the manual they have the glass help up by a block of wood. They don't have you removed the glass.

My 57 has power windows and I most likely will be taking the doors apart soon. Do you know how to do it? I have not looked in the archives yet. -Dan-

I did an article on that about 25 years ago in the Restorer. Should be part of the Restorer DVD you can buy. Be careful of your fingers--don't remove the wrong thing.

The regulator comes out the large hole to the back of the door. I always have the glass out as I am usually doing a complete restoration. The track that is below the post needs to come out or at least loosened up and pushed towards the outside of the car.
