    C1 brake hoses

Going through the boxes of parts I got when I bought the 60, I found four new GM brake hoses. I opened one of the packages and think it is the single crimp type, They are GM part number 1-3696551.

Are these safe to use (I have no idea how old they are) or should I buy new ones and save these for a future owner or whenever the car gets a frame off resto?

    IMHO, use new hoses.

It is your brakes, after all.

That said, brake hoses are made of very good material, and being in a box,and not on a car, they won't deteriorate as quickly, and are probably good, but is is the brake system we are talking about.

As a side note, originality be damned, I would never use any other fuel hose than SAE30 J9 fuel injection hose anymore, anywhere , where soft fuel line needs to used. The Goodyear, blue teflon lined J9 hose is the best IMO, it is impervious to the alcohol laced gas we have to use.

The J7 stuff, which is what is most found as replacements, isn't rated for continuous fuel exposure, but it is good for vent hose and such.

A fuel fire can ruin your day.

      Doug,

After I posted this question, I started thinking exactly what you said. We are talking brakes here........... I ordered new ones last night.

As much as I'm trying to keep this one owner car as original as possible while getting it road worthy, I need to keep safety in mind. So new hoses all around!
