Re: Is the Mid year door latch shared w/other lines?

"The 63-64 Corvette door locks, GM #4885694 and 4885695, were also used on 1963-64 Chevrolet 2 door passenger cars."

Interesting comment, Joe. I used Fred Oliva's XREF utility to report the lock PN's were unique to Corvette.

Fred sat down a group of secretaries and had them 'hammer' the PN data from the various Chevrolet AIM books ('63-67) into a common data base. His utility does NOT include Corvair or truck, but it does include full size Chevy, Chevy II, Camaro, Chevelle and Corvette. And, it does include PN's called out each in drawing's parts list as well as the engineering change block.

I got NO hits on the '63-64 Corvette door lock assy's as being FACTORY installed parts shared by other Chevy vehicles...

All I can say is that, according to GM, they missed on this one.

I think the 67 is a stand alone is because of the moving of the inside door lock button and it approches it from a different angle than the 63-66. I don`t have a 67 to look at but that would be my guess. Mike

          Mike -

It wasn't the physical location of the lock knob that made '67 door lock assemblies different - 67's introduced "free-wheeling" door locks, which made them different than the '63-'66 lock assemblies.

Thanks John! That is good to know as sooner oe later I am going to need to replace one. Thats gives me one more year to include. Mine is not a judged car and if it doesn`t hurry up and get out of my garage it is going to outlast me having never got to drive it. 11 years now. Thanks, Mike
