Can someone please I.D. a 57 Corvette Gas Rod?

    Hi Guys,

Here is a picture of what I am pretty sure is the gas rod from my 57 # 1851. It is the gas rod I removed from the car and restored for the 57 resto.

Which end am I supposed to I.D. to find out if it was originally a gas rod from a fuelie or not?

Is this a gas rod from an original fuelie Corvette or not?

I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the black end is definately round, obviously the raw steel side with a hole and rubber grommet going through it is square.

    Thanks,
    Jacob

Not from a fuel injected car. An FI throttle linkage would be round with the very end where it connects to the carb linkage flattened.

I'm sure someone has a picture of one and will post it soon.

Good photos in 56-7 JM 5th Edition - if you're working on a '57 - recommend you order it from the NCRS Store.

Attached photo of a '57 FI throttle rod.

Nice pic of the 57 FI accelerator rod assembly Gary. What's the logo on that flat plate? I forgot.
        That's a very rare part.
Both 57 and 58 FI cars have a unique accelerator rod assembly.

            Thanks a bunch guys!

This is actually great news, as my car is a dual quad and I am pretty sure the engine is the original... so I would have been confused if the car would have had the fuelie linkage on the gas rod.

            Thanks for the schooling!
            Best,
            Jacob

Jacob, if you don't have a 56-7 Judging Manual 5th edition, you should order one from the NCRS store. Gary....

Thanks Gary, I have the fourth edition (beige cover) looks like when you take over five years to complete a resto.. You will end up buying two of the same judging guides. I will email the Mortimers and get a new one on the way!
