I want to purchase a correct set of bias ply tires for my 1966 for flight judging. If I choose BF Goodrich Silvertown 7.75-15 four ply, do I have to go with the 5/8" whitewall or can I go with the 1" whitewall?? The reason I ask is the car was top flighted by the last owner prior to him installing radials. The spare still has the BF Goodrich with 1" whitewall. I would rather purchase only four to match the spare.

Re: 1966 Correct Tires for Judging
Do you have the option level on the car?
A long time ago this gentleman told me that mos the 427's in 66 came standard with black side walls.
Now most have gold lines, its almost like how the engines grow 100 CI on restoration.- Top

Re: 1966 Correct Tires for Judging
John,
The spare is always judged separately from the road tires. It doesn't need to match them. You could even have whitewalls on the car and a blackwall spare and recieve no deduct on the spare assuming everything else about the tire is good.
