    Gary,
That is about what mine looked like, see post above. I am afraid the leaves have too much rust to save.
How do yours look, did you have any rust scale? I may reconsider rebuilding this spring.
    Thanks,
    George

      George,

Yes, there was some rust scale, but not enough to warrant it's replacement. I blasted each leaf, and they came out great. The car was sitting on jack stands for the last 25 years, so there wasn't any weight on the spring. I'll just get some new liners for it, and I should be good to go.

Keep one thing in mind: ANY erosion of steel on a leaf spring leaf will alter the characteristics and durability of the spring.

Thanks so much Joe, I never really looked at it that way. I figured the new liners were going to change things a bit to begin with, but no more than that. The arc of the spring and ride height were still good, thus my decision to keep the origional spring. If things get ugly in the end, after this car is together, because it doesn't look or measure out right, I may have to go another route, but for now I'll let it ride.

            Gary, Joe,
I remember reading a post a few years ago, I think it was Duke who said if there was little to no pitting and scaling then the spring should be good for a rebuild and re-use.
This spring that I am playing was an eBay purchase, it's been sitting in my garage for a couple years waiting for me to get around to it. It really looked pretty good until I took it apart. The free arch is measuring 10 5/8, which I also recall was something stated in earlier post as an indication of condition.
So I just need to decide if it is worth rebuilding it, installing it and finding out it is junk, either due to ride height and or handling.

I think it is stiffer than my OEM front coils, and think the car would ride/drive better if I had a good original in the rear.

            Thoughts or input welcome,
            George
