1965 40083 fuel pump

I just removed a fuel pump from my 1965 fuel car. It is a mid November 1964 car. The flange has the 40083 stamped into it but I could not find any date code stamped into it. Should it have a date code and where might it be???

I started a thread on 02/25/2011 entitled "AC fuel pump date code research date".
Is you pump only stamped "40083" or are there 2 letters in the stamping as well?

Jack,

The stamped date codes started sometime in 1965 based on all my research on AC pumps. Over the years I have had a "40083" pump w/cast base and a "40083 IJ"(Sept. 1970) "over the counter" pump w/stamped steel base. Your "40083" should have a "PT 5623145" cast on the part that matches up to the engine block and I suspect it probably was made sometime in the Summer or Fall of 1964 since your car was made Nov. 1964. I believe that if disassembled the pump your would find some casting years, probably "64" with some radial line segments (which represent the month) around the year "64".
I would suspect that the base on your pump is cast, not stamped steel.
