    Gary -

Each A.I.M. sheet gets a "fresh start" as a newly-released sheet at the beginning of the new model year; that's why the A.I.M. part number changes from year to year (#3878100 for '66, #3891772 for '67). The '67 sheets (14-A2 and 14-B1) both have release dates (extreme lower left corner of the title block) in May and June of '66, for the '67 model year.

If you'll look at the '66 front bumper sheet (14-A2), it has two revisions (symbols 1 & 2) in the revision block; the same sheet in the '67 A.I.M. has one, with symbol 1, indicating that was the first revision for the '67 model year.

The change from the #124573 5/8" ATF nut in '66 to the #9418897 11/16" ATF nut for '67 was part of the initial release of the '67 sheet, so it doesn't show in the revision block. You'll see exactly the same thing on the rear bumper sheet (14-B1).

I think like Michael says above, the change was planned for 67 production, but when the change was actually made on the production line is unknown.

I did check the nut sizes on my late 67 (Jun 29) and they fit an 11/16" socket, a 5/8" socket will not fit. They appear to be originally black phosphate.
2 per side, UPC 14-A2, Item 19, 9418897 Nut) at the position shown in your picture. That same part number is called out at the same position in all of the AIMs from 1963-67.

The question is regarding all of the other noanywhere in 1967.

If what the 1967 AIM shows was actually used for assembly line productionother end

            [quote=Gary Beaupre (28818);547400]Jerry,

I think the two you show in your photo are the ones that took were 11/16" ATF in '66 as well. There are four 11/16" ATF nuts on the front bumper hardware in '66. The question is, are the other nuts, and particularly the ones for the rear bumper 11/16" or 5/8". On '66, all of the rear nuts are 5/8". Can you check one or two on the rear bumpers on your '67?

            Gary,

Checked the rear bumper nuts on my late 67 tonight, when I got home.
They fit an 11/16" wrench not a 5/8". Rear bumper has never been off the car. They look like rusty black phosphate.

                Gary
My car has a build date of June 29, 1967. All of the bumper nuts, front and rear are 11/16".

Maybe see you in a couple of weeks at the NCC chapter meet. Maybe we will do Chassis again, but was hoping for Mechanical.

I'm a little surprised there isn't more input from 67 owners on this.

                      Michael,

Pete Lindahl is beefing up to get in shape to crawl under his '67.

                          Dale,

Thanks. And do they appear to be or were black phosphate?

Thanks Dale. I think the nuts would have been grey instead of black when new too.

                                Michael,

I suppose you say that because "black" phosphate was more gray to dark gray than black?
