    Re: '67 Smog Pump

Tim... The 67 overhaul manual has the pump in Section 6T. It has vanes that can make the noise when they are new it states. I had a 69 years ago and I removed the vanes and pump was just a shaft and the pully. I blocked off the air injector at the exhaust manifold. In those days it was more about horsepower and originality... Bill

#10 x 1/2" flat head stainless machine screws make great substitutes for the flanged air injection tubes in the exhaust manifolds; the tube nuts on the air manifolds tighten down to exactly the same dimension, and no exhaust gases get past them to discolor the air manifold finish.

Tim G. I still have my original 68 smog pump. I did replace it because it was just a little noisy. I believe the bearings could of used lubrication after 38 years. Bought a rebuilt replacement from Auto Zone. It had to be ordered, not something on their parts shelf. It is exactly like my original pump except for the filter on the front of the pump.
