The "Corvette Spec Guide" shows a total of 271 with beige interior, 216 with red. You apprently have an original red steering wheel........

i discovered some of the correspondence
i had had with two of the previous owners.

the car was artic blue
the cove was white
the interior was red
so the steering wheel was red

s.o. had painted it black
and now the black is wearing off...
and i think it really looks cool

David, nice looking car! The factory cove color for your car would have been silver as an option or the Artic Blue body color standard. Decades ago a Chevy dealer showed me pictures of a '57 he ordered. It was a Artic Blue, silver cove, red interior FI. It was a great looking car! He kept pictures of it since it was unique in color and FI.

IMO, you have one of the most striking color combos offered! Blue with silver coves and red interior! I would LOVE that color combination!

re-installed the hood on my 56!
it had two shims on the top bolt
of the right front hinge.
we found that we only needed the thicker one
to attain good alignment!
funny how the shim count changes!
the shims look like a 'Y' that just slide on
with the bolt already started in place.
would this be a correct shim for a 56 vette
and, where else were they used?

Here is a 57 fuel injection old race car restored artic blue / silver cove, red interior. Rare combination. The BLACK BOOK shows only 172 cars painted in those colors, and most were beige interior.

hi james
i wasn't very careful when i stripped my car for painting
and don't remember what color was under
that dark cadillac blue for the coves.
i'll check what pictures i have and see if they give up a clue.
would there be any other way to determine this?

David, if there were no paint remnants, witnesses to the original car, pictures of the original paint, and you have no original documentation you are out of luck.

suppose it had been repainted?
i wonder why just it,
and not the artic blue?

was 86F and pretty nice
