    66 Conv. Vent window regulator

Do you need to remove the vent window frame to remove the vent window regulator? Could someone provide removal instructions? I'd prefer not to remove the vent frame or main glass.

    Thanks,
    Dave K.

You will have to remove the frame and all. I am speaking for 63, but am sure they are the same. The shop manual has a very good detailed instructions on removing.

Not that hard of a job. I thought the hardest was getting the window and frame alligned back in door for proper fit. You may want to take chalk or something to mark locations.

Dave.....Just a FYI, I did both sides on a '67 convertible lately. The AIM was very helpful to get the proper adjustments to the vent window assembly back in and so that it is sealed right, etc.

Maybe not the same pages in the '66 AIM, but for reference........

In the '67 AIM, it was UPC 1 DOORS K13 (Side Door Vent Window Assembly Procedure - 19467) (SUGGESTED PROCEDURE) referencing page K14 Vent Window Assembly which shows all of the parts.

This page also references that you go to UPC Section 11-13 Sheet B7(Body Checking) for the tolerances of the assembly. I think without this procedure it's a wild guess to get it reinstalled. It proved to me that the AIM is a excellent tool to help rebuild this stuff, as it certainly was for me being my first C2 convertible vent window experience.

The prior "workers" on this car had every conceivable door, window, & vent tolerance a total mess. I spent many hours adjusting both doors' hinges, window glass, and the vent window assemblies, along with re-sealing all weatherstrips on the side headers and lower hinge pillars until I got it right. The end result was excellent. It just takes time...... yes much patience is needed here.
