    63 Ride height

The blue car has a new rear spring (along with everything else), I'm wondering if it looks a bit high in the back? I've stuck the black one in there for comparison purposes (the black one's got radials, so it might be lower overall.

I haven't driven the blue one yet, I suppose it might settle down a little. What do you guys think?

    Re: 63 Ride height

The ride height specs are in your AIM. The AIM describes how to correctly measure both front and rear. The measurement is taken from 2 points on the suspension at all corners, with the difference being the ride height. This technique allows for various tire heights... eliminates that variable.

If the spring is new there may be some settling over time.....

      Michael,

The car will settle down after you bounce it around a bit. What type of spring did you use on the rear?

      Your cars look very nice..

Thanks Steve, I'll look in the AIM

Tim, the spring is an Eaton, standard ride height, 9 leaf. I had to paint it grey and change the liners. I've been looking for a nice used original for a while, without much luck, so I decided to go with the repro until one shows up. I'll probably get some originality deducts on the spring when I put it through judging this Spring and Summer.

Thanks for the compliments. The black car is my driver, the blue car is completely fresh, with new lacquer, etc. It got Duntov, Boomington Gold and Triple Crown in the early nineties, but needed a freshening after sitting with minimal driving for twenty years.

By just changing the rubber bushings the height will increase about an inch. My car did but after a short amount of driving it will go down most of that inch. I'm sure the spring will settle a little also.

            Mike -

I put an Eaton 9-leaf in my '67 about eight years ago - it sat about 3/4" high at the beginning, and settled out nicely after about 100 miles.
