Re: Inside hood paint line advice.........
Another Corvette - that photo was shot VERY late in the C3 era, when there were glass hatches and urethane bumper covers that were installed after the Paint Shop.- Top

Thanks John,
I thought it had to be, but hard to tell it's another Corvette from that angle.- Top

I'm surprised no one has commented on the 14" wide spray pattern.- Top

Funny you say that. I didn't get to read the board earlier today and just looked the your photo. That was the first thing I noticed.
By the way, thanks for sharing all the photos from your collection that you do.

Re: Inside hood paint line advice.........
I would definitely have commented on the 14" wide spray pattern, if I had known it was unusual
How wide should the spray pattern be?
Also, how was the body color applied to the original hood? I realize the hood was mounted to the hinges, and presumably in the down/closed position for initial body paint. How did they lift the wet hood to paint body color on the underside (and hold it open without a hood support), and was the whole underside of the hood painted with body color, or just a few inches in from the outer edge?
Some original looking and fairly beat up hood undersides in the archives appear to show body color where the blackout has chipped or worn off, near the center of the hood underside, where I didn't expect to see body color showing through.- Top
