    2007 Tire Recommendation

Time to replace the tires on the 2007 convertible. I'm looking for recommedations as to what would be the best brand run flat tire. What are the pitfalls, such as the tire pressure monitor, wear factors, comfort, noise, etc.? Car is used as a daily driver.

    Thanks,

    George,
While you will get some answers on this site -- you will get more first hand experience from the Corvette Forum C6 section:

    http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...re-thread.html
    or:

or if you have a Z06:
    http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...re-thread.html

A search over there reveals quite a number of tire threads, and if you have a brand in mind you can search there using that brand name and find out more than you ever wanted to know.

      Re: 2007 Tire Recommendation

I usually replace the tires on my pre owned inventory with OEM tires, which are not my favorite, but they are the correct issue tire and I prefer to sell them that way.

I have many customers with Michelin and Firestones and they get along fine with them.

You should have no issues with sensors on replacement brand tires.

How many miles did you get on the originals ? Just curious. It helps to know that to tell how the car is used.

You did pretty well on the originals. I would think the Firestone or Michelin, either one, would serve you well.

Both Tom and Terry have given Great advice.

I am running Michelin now but have used Firestone in the past.

              Re: 2007 Tire Recommendation

I wore out the inner edge of both rear tires at 16K miles (overload on the Road Tour to California in 2009). Re-alignment with the new rears at 16K miles.

I just changed the fronts at 26K -- RH inner edge was down to the cords, but the LH front looked like it had another 5 or 10 K to go. All on Goodyear run crap super Car OEM tires.

I am working toward doing the next alignment myself, but the Hunter machine I have access to will not accommodate the 2008 Corvette tires. I am trying to press for an upgraded alignment machine, but failing that a set of True Line adapters. Unless the tire availability situation changes this year I see a set of Michelins in my future.

If you order the Ultimate Performance Package on the Z06 the Michelin's come with the package

I still have the original tires on my 2002 coupe, I'm at 44,500 miles so far and have worn my right front tire's inner edge down to the cord. All others still have some tread.

after the inside edges wore on my 97 C-5 i started to have the front camber set as close to"0" as possible and it stopped the inside edge wear.

That's exactly what I did Clem. The right side camber was within GM specifications, but I had it aligned as close to 0; it was .7 when measured at the Corvette shop.
