    Painting C1 Hambones

I need to paint new hambones before installing seat belts. Were the hambones fully painted on all sides? Or only what the painter could easily get to since the hambones were already bolted to the car?

    Joe -

I don't believe there was a conscious effort to fully paint the hambones; I think they got painted more as an incidental overspray than as parts to be fully painted.

That is what I suspected. Thank you for the confirmation.

        This is from my '59:

        This side is fully painted:

This side has no paint except for the drip at the mounting hole. That drip tells you the bracket orientation as installed...

The finish on the unpainted side is a weathered cad (zinc?)

Great photos Bill. I don't see any manufacturer's name on either side of your hambones. They sprayed the side facing out and that was it. I wonder how the paint drip made it through the bolt hole with the bolt secured in place?

My 1962 hambones are also painted the same way. Quite a bit of paint on the sides that face the seats, and very little (really just overspray)on the opposite sides.

The drip is coming around from the painted side, not through the bolt hole.
