    1970 Alternator Stamp

In the Judging Manual the Alternator broadcast code for a 70 350/350 is NW, but it says the letter are about 3/8" high, looking at other cars that seems short. I measured one and I seem to remember 3/4" high. What is the correct measurement I am looking to getting to get a stamp pad made up.

This doesn't answer your questions but, this guy makes stamps. I've used them and they look great. I do not have an original I can take measurements from. I do have a restored 882 that Pirkle restored and stamped if you would like measurements from.

      Les,

I don't know what the correct alternator broadcast code lettering height should be on a '70, other than what is in the Judging Guide. I can tell you that the stamp is 3/8" high on my alternator.

        Les,
My best recollection is that I measured my 1970 for that dimension in 1993 when that information was added. I will not rule out that there has been a typo change in the intervening years -- that is a risk with each revision, but the alternative is no revisions and no one would like that. I would offer to measure my 1970, but that would add no other data point to the statistic. Perhaps I have a mini-stamp and have the only alternator in existence with that feature.

I know us aging judges would appreciate the larger font if you can find justification for it.

Malignant melanoma comes from flying closer to the sun. I'll try to post a picture example (of the sun thing) in the next couple days. I'll be winging my way to DFW as the sun sets tomorrow night.
