Should a 61 FI car have the wire type or solid steel pie shapted distributor hold down clamp.
I have always been under the impression that 62 thru 65 have the wire clamp.
If 61 does take the wire clamp was it used the entire year?
In reading the 5th edition for 61-62 on pg 48 I see why I was confused. I did not read the info in enough depth.
The writer says, "All distributors are retained to the intake manifold with a bolt passing through a 1/8" thick formed steel retainer which in turn secures a clamp made of 1/8" thick rounded steel".
The key word is "rounded" steel. Fancy writing for the wire hold down clamp. So then I answered my own question but will leave it here anyhow for those that are confused on the proper hold down for a 61. JD
