    Nationals Question

Got my registration packet. Can't wait to head north. Was just wondering if I was reading the packet correctly.

First question. When we first arrive, we park cars to be judged in an OUTDOOR lot overnight until we do operations the following morning starting at 9:00, and then we put the cars in the convention center. Is that correct? Just wanna know cause my car leaks a bit and I will bring my tonneau top if it is going to sit out all night.

Second question, is there any easy way once we arrive to get the gas tank down to 1/8th? Just let the car run?

    Thanks

    Re: Nationals Question

In the past the cars have been parked outside the night before the operations. They are usually staged in the order they will be placed inside the building.

      Kirk,

At times tanks have to be drained, but there will likely not be provisions provided to do so. By far the best option is to plan your fill ups well before you arrive.

        Re: Nationals Question

Thanks guys. So cars will be outside overnight and I should try and arrive with 1/8 tank. Got it. My problem is that I'm driving from Columbus, OH and getting that low scares me when I'm on the road. Will do the best I can.

Calculate your mpg ahead of time and use Mapquest to estimate miles. In generalities it's 212 miles. If you get 16mpg (and you probably do 18) that requires 13.25 gallons. If I recall correctly you have a 20 gallon tank so 1/8 is 2.5 gallons. 2.5 + 13.25 = 15.75. Start out with about 3/4 tank and you'll probably be fine. Easy enough to check your fuel level with a flashlight along the way if you need to. Plenty of gas stations near Toledo and then in all the Detoirt suburbs you'll drive by on the way.

          Hope that helped.

Thanks Patrick. That is about exactly what I planned to do.
