    65 396 Oil Pan Pictures?

Could I get someone to send me (or tell me where I can find) some pictures of an original early May 396 oil pan? I'm seeing different configurations, some of which must be replacement pans.

    I appreciate the help!

Mark, can you give us a little more detail ? Are you saying that there may be differences between an early May pan and later in the model year ?

The '65 TIM&JG describes oil drain plug location, sump length, vertical ribs (number & location), corner reinforcements, etc.

      Wayne,
I'm just saying that there are different configurations on 396 oil pans between replacements adn originals. The car I'm looking for a pan for is an early May car and I just want to see an early original pan or pictures so I can make sure I get the right one. A visual makes a big difference. hard to believe that nobody has a picture of a pan they can share.

      Thanks,
      Mark

        Mark,
I can send a photo of mine but I have been told its not correct because it does not have the bolt that fastens to the timing cover at the front!
So I would also like to see a correct one as well?
        Cheers,
        Gary

Or do you mean you have the hole in the front lip of your oil pan, but your timing cover does not have the integral bolt (see thumbnails, below big pic) ?

            Well thats interesting Wayne.
My pan does not have a hole to install a bolt to the timing cover.

Then you do not have a '65-early '66 pan.

Yes I thought so. I dont mean to hijack Mark's post but where can you get a good repo 65 pan? LIC maybe?

Interesting Wayne, if I read that right, my March '66 L72 should not have the center bolt or a hole in the pan?

No, I believe the early style pan and bolt would still have been used at the time your 1966 was built.
