Bonding strips on front fenders of 62

Guys, the bonding strips inside the front fenders of my 62 currently run from the fire wall to just forward of the wheel well center. There is a wider section at the forward end before it terminates. Is this correct or should they continue forward? If so do they continue strait or turn down? Help!!!

The bonding strip should continue to curve downward then jog in and down to conform to the indent for the front bumper. It ends at approx. the middle of the indent. Go to the www.CorvetteCentral.com and type in pt. #141216L ( or R ). The diagram is clickable to enlarge and will give you an idea of what it is supposed to look like.
