63 Oil Canister Bolt Head Mark

Does anyone know if there is a correct head mark for the bolt that holds the Oil Filter Canister on? The JG does not mention one. I have one marked "AP" and another one that is blank.

"AP" is one of the ones I recall. There may very well have been others, but you have an "AP" so why look for any others?

I have one with a "M" (fat and flat font). Can take a pic if would help. Believe it is original can off a June '65 assembled BB.

Al - I find that the "M" is more commonly found on the earlier canisters while the "AP" is more commonly found on 66 & 67 canisters. Pete

Here's the one I mentioned above, found on my May '65 396. It's a little rough . The center is raised, not sunk.

Looks like that '65 had frequent oil and filter changes.

One thing to keep in mind here: during the pre-1968 period, GM was using these oil filter canisters (and bolts) by the MILLIONS every year. Thus, there were likely multiple sources for these bolts in any given year.
