62 tach cable

Can someone please tell me the correct length tach cable for a 62 340hp? Seems to be some disagreement among vendors and this old senile brain can't remember.

My P&A catalog shows 37 1/8" length for first design cable. Second design cable is 40 1/2" with the casing being 39 1/2"

Do you know hy it was stretched in the second design and when that second design went into effect?

I do not have anything that tells me when the design change was made and why. My guess is the longer length to accommodate the bends that were necessary in the routing of the cable and maybe to allow more movement for distributor timing adjustment.
