    1956 Firewall Holes

i had seen that s.o. had asked about FW holes on a '60
a few weeks ago, while doing my restro on my engine bay,
i made up a diagram of all the holes in my FW.
am posting it here so i don't hijack his thread.
maybe it will help, or everyone here could point out any errors
    i have made.

I believe the "rubber plugs" 4 on LFW and a few others are the rubber retainers for the firewall insulation. They are pointed and are inserted from the inside of the car.
I believe earlier cars used metal clips.
By the way, your diagram is very helpful.

i plan to refine it some more
and make it look more like the
      assembly manual's diagram.

there are two hole (for screws?)
between the clutch rod and the E brake
that i have no clue as to their function

Dave, they may be for the windshield washer foot pump on Powerglide cars. Powerglide and standard shift cars had the pump mounted in different positions.
I do like your firewall diagram. I made a copy and am using it in my 57 as I am working on the final details of putting my car back together. -Dan-
