Time for my usual dumb question of the week. I'm looking at draining my radiator and seem to not find the drain pitcock. I have a radiator without an overflow tank using the standard R-15 cap. From initial look/see I'm guessing it's on the passenger side and if so, is their panel I remove to gain access?

Jim there are no such things as dumb questions as far as I am concerned..most of the time!! Anyhow..I just drained and flushed mine out..so its fresh in my head..it is on the passengers side..I didn't have to remove anything to get to it..might need to fish around for it and it may be a little tight..be careful with it..when you are done don't tighten it all that much..just finger tight..don't need a pair of plyers..I did the d and f about 4 times..used a prestone flush stuff..worked out all the crusty stuff just fine..- Top

Rich, If you have a pet-cock on your Corvette radiator someone besides the UAW put it there.
Original early C3 (and I expect other eras of Corvette are the same) radiators, both aluminum and copper/brass, have a hex head plug that is the radiator drain. In the case of the copper/brass radiator there is a right angle fitting soldered to the bottom of the radiator on the passenger side tank near the lower radiator hose inlet. Use extreme care to hold that fitting while trying to tighten or loosen the plug. Odds are good you sill snap that fitting off, and then the radiator will have to come out for repair -- a booger of a job. I recommend draining the coolant by removing the lower radiator hose from the radiator. That is a much safer operation.
BTW: Aluminum radiators have an aluminum plug, and copper/brass radiators have a brass plug. If you do succeed in removing the plug use anti-seize on reinstallation.Terry- Top
