Engine Starter Motor from USA Industries

    Hi Friends
I have just bought a rebuild "Starter" here in Denmark and wonder why they called one of the terminals on the Solenoid "R" instead of "C" ? I assume that its the same function whatever its the letter R or C.
Is it right the the Terminal B are Battery and AmMeter and Terminal R/C are to resistor(green) and Terminal S are violet to ignition Switch?
    The car are from 1959.

    Regards Jorn

      Jorn -

The small terminal closest to the block ("S") is for the purple/violet wire (energizes the starter), and the small terminal on the outboard side ("C" or "R" for "relay" originally) is for the green coil bypass wire that provides a full 12 volts to the coil (+) terminal when cranking.
