    Power Steering Pump Quandary

Can anyone tell me if the discharge fitting or pressure union for the power steering pump can be purchased separately?

My pump started leaking pretty badly and I pulled it to rebuild it. When I got it on the bench, I found that someone had cross threaded the power steering hose into the discharge fitting. The threads in the fitting are destroyed.

I'm concerned my only option is that I have to buy a new pump just to get the fitting.

    Thanks in advance

Curtis, I am sure that this a part that is serviced with the pump, Your best bet is to talk a walk through a junk yard maybe theres a older GM car there, They must all be the same, just bring the old part with you.

The fitting, GM #5692843, was once available as a separate part. However, it was discontinued without supercession in June, 1981. I don't know of any source for a replacement. I suspect that such pieces are "out there" but likely only available to commercial rebuilders since there would be virtually no market for such parts in the retail automotive world.

Curtis, Try a call to Lonestar Caliper in Texas. They rebuild PS pumps along with calipers, etc. They may have some leftovers from salvaged non-rebuildable pumps.
