    69 tunnel heat shield

I' doing under body stuff getting ready for body drop but not sure about the positioning of the foam bellhousing heat shield? Does anyone know where it is supposed to be from front to rear? Thanks Brad

When I had my transmission out, I put the new seal on the marks that were on the bell housing from the original seal. That gave me the exact location for my Corvette.

Brad, I would think the position of the factory retainers would not let you position more than a few inchs either way.

Foam bell housing collar, Ed -- not the tunnel heat shield with the aluminum foil outer cover.

          Hi Brad,
On my 71 sb the front of the collar was about even with the heavy joint in the fiberglass between the firewall and the underbody.
          Regards,

Alan, was it centered on the seam or in front or to the rear of the seam? Thanks Brad

If this picture is big enough you should be able to see the collar.

Is this shield glued or just sandwiched between the tunnel and the bellhousing? The AIM doesn't call out any glue.

                      Hi Brad,
The front of the collar was about even with the seam, so I'd say the collar was to the rear of the seam.
On my 71 there wasn't any sign of glue.
                      Regards,
                      Alan
