    C1 Universal Joint

I need to get new universal joints for my 1960. The TIM & JG says they should be non-greasable. I have found the following:

Zip - Has a standard duty and a heavy duty which are non-greasable. I could not tell the manufacturer

NAPA - Has what they term a super strength non-greasable. The maker is Percision Universial Joint.

Looks like Rock Auto has the same brand as NAPA.

Would any of these be OK? or has anyone replaced their C1 U-joints lately with NCRS correct, if so, what did you use?

    Thanks,
    Don

none of the U joints you buy today will pass judging . I have had several NOS ones and even they will not pass. The circle in the middle of the U joint is to large . The only way I found the correct ones were from original Cheverloet cars. They have a recesed circle in the middle and a Chevy Bow Tie on them and a part number.Email me dpathc2@kc.rr.com and I will send a picture . Or if some peaople want I will post some pictures.

I agree. I put aftermarket u-joints in my 57 and the crosses are no where near like the originals. But I thought 57's had grease fittings. Is this true, or didn't they get eliminated until 58.

For what its worth, I still have the old ones, and they are not that bad. Might be able to use them with new cups and needles. -Dan-

It is interesting that all the manuals... ST-12, owners, and shop manual show the universal joints need to be greased.
