    Mel
That is one place I was going to test it as well. My gasket is weeping out even with RTV on it. We'll see how it goes.

Gary, any chance you are using a chrome thermostat cover, if so they do not like to seal at all.

        Hey Scott,
Yes I know thanks, this is a chrome cover. I remove the o-rings because they never seal anyway. I usually double gasket it using the Right Stuff. I've lapped the covers on a plate, still leaked. This one isn't too bad, probably weeped out a teaspoon amount over 500 miles.

Gary, Try the GM thermostat gasket. Part # 10105135. Best thermostat gasket on the market. If it's still available. John

            Concur with previous remarks.

I think Hylomar is the best gasket sealant on the market, and I use it almost exclusively.

Generally available at Auto Zone, Oreailly, Checker, Advance, Pep Boys, at (least in my area).

Great for fuel pumps, water pumps, thermostat housings, differential covers, oil pans, intakes, etc., etc.

Very easy to clean up if you have to remove a part that was installed with Hylomar. And it does not leak.

Thanks for the picture. I tried a few places and they were clueless. Don H.

Don, it is a Permatex product, so that should not be rocket science to locate. Did you try Googling on Permatex or Hylomar? I found Advantage carried it by Googling on Hylomar.

If you can't locate some, send me a PM or e-mail and I will buy some and send it to you. -Dan-
