    Part Number Confirmation Request

Fan Clutch for a 1975 L-48 with A/C; what's the current replacement part number?

From my research and searching in the archives, the original part number was 343721. It then was discontinued or was changed to 12529342 and then that number was changed to the current part number of 88961768.

Is this the current and correct replacement part number for my car? I just wanted to check before I pull the trigger and order one. The original, that I'll be taking off, will be stored and rebuilt sometime in the future.

Last question, when storing the fan clutch, what is the proper orientation? Simply the same orientation as it was mounted on the car?

    Thanks!

The original part number was 343721 and the current part number is 88961768. The last time I checked, these two parts were virtually identical. It might be that the 88961768 has a dual mounting pattern on the hub (i.e. 8 holes instead of 4).

Store the fan clutch with the thermostat (i.e. coil) facing UP.
