The judging manual allows UP TO six months prior to car assembly/completion date but that's rare to see that AFAIK.

Its a dec 5 69 build date L46 4 speed no air car..I have a number in mind just want to make sure its the right one..I am really not very good at this yet.

I think Ralph's question was referring to the part number. For a '69 L46 (350/350) without air, it's the 42 amp 1100859, assuming no K66 TI. If you have the TI, then it would be a 61 amp 1100825.

Others will comment how rare these are and the chances of finding one...

I spoke with John Perkil recently about an 42 amp alternator for a 69 SB and he said that he has not seen any for several years. I saw a couple for 68's on flee bay. I have been looking on and off for several years with any luck for a July car.

I'm not sure if you've explored eBay, but there's a 1100859 42 amp on their right now at $300. Date code is 8L12 (I think that's Nov 12, 1968) which would fit for a car up to April 12, 69 to be "correct."
