    T-shaped pull ties

    I'm reading the new 66 Judging Manual and it goes to great pains to describe the number and location of the pull ties that are located along the firewall. It has more detail than the previous JM edition. Page 141 under mechanical is where this is specified. It also refers to the AIM pages for a more detailed picture of the tie placement. The JM claims that there are six pull ties tied to the hood latch cable. If so this would make the firewall kind of cluttered with pull ties. It also states that the 6th tie is located near the windshield washer pump. The AIM shows this but it is not clear.

    Can anyone provide pictures or a better sketch of the exact location and if all 6 are tied to the hood latch cable?

    Thanks,
    Dave K.

    Re: T-shaped pull ties

    Hello Dave;
    Here is a partial representation of a '67.
    Maybe someone can comment on any difference from '66

      Ray,

      Thanks a lot --

      The one tie wrap near the wiper motor does not appear to be connected to the hood release cable as the 66 JM states. Could you provide a close up of this? Does you tie wrap installation match the 67 JM? I cannot believe that there is much difference between the 66 and 67 JM.

        Hello Dave;
        Picture is one saved on my laptop. Not my Corvette.
        Hope someone will chime in here to add more info.

          Dave:

          In the entire 66 AIM, I can find only six locations where the #9422033 tie is shown; five of which are in the engine compartment, one of which is under the right rear bumperette. For the five in the engine compartment, refer to UPC 1 Sheet D4 and UPC 12 Sheet A9 as the AIM states. For the one under the bumperette, refer to UPC 8 Sheet B4.

          My 66 has only the six ties listed above and they are installed where indicated in the AIM. On my car, the tie shown on UPC 12 Sheet A9 with the #13 revision circle, does not fasten to the hood catch cross cable.

            Henry,

            I count qty=7 of 9422033 in the 66 AIM; qty= 2 on UPC 1 ASM D4; qty=1 on UPC 8 B4; and qty=4 on UPC 12 A9.

              Good catch on UPC 1 D4!!! I'll have to check my car again. Thank you.

                Gary and Henry,

                1966 JM page 141, section d:

                The JM has a total of six specified for the engine compartment. It states six along the firewall, two on driver's side, three on passenger side and sixth on driver's side near windshield washer pump. Between UPC 12, page A9 and UPC 1, page D4, I count only two on passenger side.

                It appears that the 6th described in e does not fasten to the hood release cable.

                Do either of you have pictures of these ties in their proper positions?

                Thanks,

                  Dave,

                  Unfortunately, I don't. My car is still in 1,000+ pieces.
