63 Dash Panel Attachment Tabs And Rivits

I need to know If the dash pad end attachment plates with rivits are painted body color when the interior and exterior are the same color?

I think I am reading this correctly in the JM. Thanks, Ed

    Edward,

This may bring some disagreement but for 63, ALL the dash panel end tabs and rivets were painted GLOSS body color, no matter what the interior/exterior color combination.

I think the Noland Adams book has it all wrong.

I've had a point deduction both ways on my SWC.

        Michael,

Noland's book is a great source for factory pictures, especially the undercarriage. BUT some of the pictures were taken years ago at shows from restorations (?) during the 70's. That leaves a lot to be desired since most hood latches were chrome.

I agree with you on the painting of the tabs. Assembly line workers were not asked to think but carry out a specific task on ALL Corvettes coming down the line. And they did a Hell of a sloppy job on some of them. Those would not get a blue ribbon!

I probably have at least 50 pictures of unrestored 63 cars with original paint and all of them have gloss body color dash tabs and rivets. And color combinations didn't matter. They were all gloss body color.

In the same decades, I've never seen even one unrestored 63 that had semi gloss tabs with unpainted black rivets.

And that didn't begin until the 65 model year, or possibly late 64, and that would only be with matching interior/exterior colors.

I think a lot of folks are still confused.

The car in the pic below is absolutely unrestored.

            Michael,

That red 63 didn't happen to be on the stage one year at the Bloomington Special Collection did it?

No JR, this is a different car. I think I remember the car that you are refering to though.

I have pic's of the painted dash tabs and rivets from the 7000 mile red/red Krughoff 63 coupe though. (I wonder where that car is today, #5415 ?)
